Structural Green Oak Beams
Our green oak structural beams are made from a fresh cut (fresh sawn) oak that has been clean cut within the last 3-6 months. Our beams are of a high moisture content and therefore prone to shrinkage and movement during the drying process.
Oak beams are most often used for decorative purposes, home structures and roof structures along with the construction of oak framed buildings and bridges. However the use of these beams is not limited and can also be used for an array of external and landscaping projects.
As our structural oak beams are unseasoned, meaning that that they have been recently felled, resulting in the higher moisture content, it means that they beams are easier to cut into custom shapes. Thus making them ideal for all structural purposes, internally as well as externally.
We stock our structural green oak beams in a range of lengths and standard section sizes, but if we do not stock the size that you require we do offer a custom cuttings service to ensure that we can provide you with the oak beam you desire to complete your project.
Our Oak beams are cut according to the European QP1 standards and the THA or THB standards as approved by TRADA. We also have on site graders who will happily grade your timber according to TRADA’S THA(D40) or THB(D30) structural requirements amongst others for an additional charge.
