Kiln Dried Douglas Fir Shiplap Cladding
With its striking colour variations from pinks, browns to creams, our precisely machined Douglas Fir Internal Shiplap Cladding is perfect should you require first-rate protection from the elements, as well as a truly unique finish. Usually fitted horizontally, the visually pleasing shadow lines of the shiplap profile offer a clean linear appearance that will accentuate the length of your building.
Douglas Fir has striking colour variations from pinks, browns to creams depending on which part of the tree it is cut. There are some dark brown knots which can loosen as the wood dries, this occasionally results in resin patches that may ooze a little at first and sometimes during subsequent hot summers. Due to its super high resin content, Douglas Fir can prove to be twice as durable as common pine, making it an incredibly strong and hardwearing species.
If left untreated, it will eventually fade into a beautiful silvery grey as nature does its work. Dark brown knots may loosen as the wood dries, occasionally resulting in resin patches that may ooze a little at first and sometimes during subsequent hot summers.
Recommended for external use only, if exposed to varying weather conditions before fitting your boards, they are likely to cup, warp and split; the ideal time to fit cladding to keep this to a minimum is between the months of October and April and within 7 to 14 days of delivery.
We offer the following section sizes with an 8mm recess:
- 142mm x 25mm - The overall width is 142mm, with the visible face measuring 134mm
- 140mm x 20mm - The overall width is 140mm, with the visible face measuring 132mm
Ready to fix and available in two options - First and Character Grade:
- First Grade is sorted to include only the clearest (most knot free) boards with the straightest grain possible. A perfect choice for all modern and contemporary applications.
- Character Grade will have a mixture of all top four grades, 1 through to 4 - some clear of knots and some straight grain, others with knots and some sloping grain. A perfect choice for all traditional/rustic applications, it gives a less uniformed look, without compromising its excellent durability properties.
End-Matching (Tongue and Groove) will allow you to place joints where they fall, instead of on the stud, allowing you to finish the job more quickly without sacrificing on quality and helps minimise wastage.
This profile is priced per square metre and comes in random lengths between 1200mm and 3600mm unless otherwise specified for an additional charge:
- Set lengths up to 3500mm - £15 ex VAT per sqm
- Set lengths above 3500mm - £18 ex VAT per sqm
