Our surrounds can work well as a floating mantel shelf, or as a rustic, traditional beam for your oak fireplace. Our distressed rustic wooden fire mantels return to the golden yellow colour, and you get individual characteristics, such as pockets, grain and texture. The faces of these beams develop splits during the drying process, and that only adds to the individuality of these oak fire surrounds. Our craftsmen carefully use a highly effective tool on all the exposed edges to give the timber a rolling surface, while you can opt for small uniform adzing or a random waney adzing at checkout, depending on the finish you’re looking for. A roughly sawn rustic oak mantel can be ideal if you’re looking for a textured effect and we’ve developed a selection of surrounds to suit a diverse range of requirements.
